A senior Creative Director with managerial skills developed over 25 years of running his own agency partnership, Richard has a reputation for outstanding innovative creative brand solutions.

After a period as senior art director with Clemenger BBDO and later McCann Erickson, Richard co founded Weekes Morris Osborn in 1980, an agency that was twice voted Australian Agency of the Year. Throughout his career Richard been recognised by his peers as being one of Australia’s top art directors and creative directors. Importantly, he is highly regarded by his clients, forming long term positive, collaborative relationships that produce strong business outcomes.

In addition, he has been responsible for fostering and developing some of Australia’s smartest young creative talent, many of who now are found at some of the countries finest agencies.

As one of Australia’s most consistently awarded creative and art directors his style is classically clever, always communicating on an emotional as well as rational level.

In his role as worldwide creative director on both Qantas and the Australian Tourist Commission he has worked for extensive periods in New York, London, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

In 1998 Richard launched Osborn & Partners with this business blossoming with major clients over the past decade.

Richard has worked on many brands, associations and issues over the years. From pet food to human food. From financial to fast food and fast cars. Some highlights are:

  • Launched the float of GIO to the Australian public. This was the first government float in Australia that was fully subscribed prior to the end of the planned media schedule.
  • Launched Westpac “My Bank” campaign to consumers after a period of uncertainty and high interest rates.
  • Launched SOCOG and the Olympic games to the Australian public for the 2000 games.
  • Relaunched Australian Tourist Commission in all global sectors under one agency policy.
  • Relaunched Qantas airways to the world as a truly international airline under a one global agency policy.
  • Launched Etrade. The first online trading business in Australia.
  • Launched Zurich Insurance online, DUI.
  • Launched ASX to the Australian public in the retail sector through successful test campaign in West Australia.
  • Developed the strategy and executed the current national print online and pr campaign for Melbourne headquartered Forest and Wood Products of Australia [FWPA].
  • Consulting to research company IPSOS on the relativity of the creative process to research practices.

Richard’s commitment to the business and wider community is impressive. He has been a board member and Advertising Agency adviser to Clean Up Australia. He has been a committee member of Austcare Australia; Aussie Host and The Tourism Taskforce
